Getting your Jetsurf board ready for the season

As time flies, we find ourselves with the summer of 2021 approaching. It's time to start storing the winter toys and equipment and get the Jetsurf ready just in time to have it maintained and well-functioning before the sunny days of riding begin.

If you don’t have the time to read the whole article, check out at least the main bullet points:

  1. Make sure your ICU is fully charged (12.6V or green light)

  2. Prepare a fresh mixture of oil and fuel

  3. Inspect of the following components

    • fuel lines

    • cooling lines

    • throttle cable and trigger

    • fuel tank

    • impeller

    • water box

    • gearwheels

    • sparkplug

    • snorkel

  4. Enjoy the first ride of the season!

For most of us winter time is less about Jetsurfing and more about winter sports but we all know that as soon as the sun comes out and the warmer weather is more frequent we start to feel this itch on the index finger. We miss the feel of pulling the Jetsurf trigger and the adrenaline, excitement and feeling of freedom knowing we are about to explore, ride, and carve towards the endless water on the horizon.

To enjoy it to its maximum and have it all ready to go when the first riding day arrives we are sharing our recommendations on how to get your Jetsurf board ready for the season.

Charge your ICU

During the winter we sent our recommendations about how to winterize your Jetsurf board, basically one of the most important things is maintaining your ICU charger, so first of all we will make sure the ICU is fully charged.

Mix fresh fuel

We also recommend getting some fresh fuel and preparing new mixture if the one you have is older than 30 days. *(We always recommend mixing smaller amounts of fuel/oil to ensure it is fresh).

After we make sure the ICU is charged and that our fuel/oil mixture is good to use we will do a general inspection of the following components: fuel lines, cooling lines, throttle cable and trigger, fuel tank, impellers, water box, gearwheels, sparkplug and snorkel.

T-connection check

Before starting the board we will check all those components mentioned above in the following way. Start checking the fuel lines and make sure they’re not dried out or the O-rings of the quick connector. Check cooling lines as well and make sure they're all connected and have no damage to any of it's components. Also check the T-connection and the clear silicone hose that goes from the T-connection to the exhaust itself.

Control handle check

Check the control handle and make sure the trigger moves smoothly and that there is a reaction by putting the key into the control handle (just check the ICU turns on without starting the engine itself) and then just shut off the electronics by placing the key ignition over the LED signalization until it turn white and shuts off the ICU.

Fuel tank check

The fuel tank check will require a visual and physical inspection to make sure it didn’t lose its shape for any reason and that there are no leaks from any part of the tank. Afte doing this fill it, connect the ventilation hose and get it placed inside the board.

Jetpump check

Make sure the Jetpump impellers are complete and that the Jetpump is mounted properly by checking it’s sitting firmly in the hull and that the hoses on its back side are connected.

Ensure that the water box and silencer are cleaned and mounted properly, gearwheels are lubricated, you fitted a new spark plug and that the air intake (snorkel) has no holes and is clear to take air.

Tighten the pads

After checking all of the above we also recommend checking that there are no loose screws or things that need tightening like the pads and straps for example.

Main gearwheel check

Just before starting the board spin the drive shaft manually and firmly and check the main gearwheel bearing engagement. You can do this by verifying that the gears will engage by turning it clockwise and making sure it won’t engage counterclockwise. If something isn’t feeling right or the gears will engage both ways and the shaft is completely stuck please contact our Tech support department so we can help you to identify and solve the issue.

After we've checked it all and are ready to start the board, don’t forget to start it not for more than 10 seconds without cooling and make sure the board idles properly.

We hope this information will be useful for you in preparing the board for riding and that this summer will be full of adrenaline, exploring and lots of fun.
